Spring pulsates with new life
Energy flows through the ground and up through our roots and veins
We feel it and reach our arms and branches up to the sky, stretching up and up
Even before the buds begin opening, energy flows like a current
You can’t see it but you can feel it
Our inner worlds are bursting from long days spent thinking under the covers
We’ve healed something in ourselves thanks to the darkness and solitude
But let us now flourish with the leaves and flowers
Let us burst with giggles and stories of what we learned from the hardness of winter Let us sing in tune with the chirps of the Robins
We will be sad and lonely and confused still, of course
But at least now, it will be in the presence of gentle sunlight
Laying in a field of soft grass and white daisies
Feeling warm soil in the palm of our hand
Burrowing lettuce seeds in the garden bed
Braiding our sister’s hair to keep the ocean breeze from getting in her eyes
Don’t forget to put sugar water in the hummingbird feeders
Or make molasses cookies for your grandma on her birthday
When we jump the wind will take us up to the clouds
Pink petals will fall and land in our books
Hips will sway to the cords of earths music
And spring will show us once again, that life is simple
All it is, is one breath in, and one breath out
